Water Power Returns To Cromford

Water Power Returns To Cromford

The Cromford Water Power Project (CWPP), based in the Cromford Mills, aims to reinstate waterpower in Cromford.

The project aims to make Cromford Mills an exemplar heritage site for harnessing water power and other renewable energies by bringing back into operation the original energy source that first fuelled the mill.

The CWPP will also supply Cromford with waterpower, as the project intends to reinstate a small turbine in the village. The energy from the turbine will be sold locally, and all income will be paid into a Community Interest Company (CIC) to support projects such as the heritage water systems within Cromford.

Work is due to start in September with the aim of the project being fully operational by June 2023.
