Repair Café

Part of the international initiative whose motto is “Throw it away, no way!”, the Repair Café is held on the fourth Saturday of every month, alongside the Green Exchange at No.28 Community Centre, Market Place, Belper. Its aim is to reduce the amount of items heading for landfill and promote the idea of fixing things and making them last, instead of throwing them in the bin.

Do you have a beloved piece of clothing that has a broken zip? Or an expensive electrical item that is just out of its warranty? Or a much-loved toy that has broken? Do you worry about whether you are living sustainably? Do you want to help stop climate change but not sure how? Then the Repair Café is for you! Come along, get your items fixed by our talented team of volunteers, and enjoy a cuppa and a piece of cake while you wait! You could even learn new skills by watching your items getting fixed.

OR….If you are you a handy person, fix things in your house, clever with electrical goods, a bit of a DIYer, or great at sewing or knitting or anything else, then you could help us out by coming along to volunteer an hour or two of your time to help reduce waste and save the planet!

If you want to get involved, then why not email us at info@transitionbelper.org
