Belper Apple Day 2022

16th October 2022 @ 10:30 am - 2:30 pm

Apple Day, which takes place on Sunday 16th October at Belper Community Hall, will allow us all to celebrate our local cultivation of England’s best known top fruit.

Despite the drought, a fine spring seems to be leading to a good harvest, and our small planning group aims to build on last year’s success .  We’ll provide more opportunities for local people (you and me) to admire the variety of local apples, to share surplus produce, and enjoy one another’s apple-based food and drink.  That means cider and (we hope) apple juice.

You must be interested if you’ve read this far, so please do consider whether you can help make this a successful and joyful day by:

  • joining our planning group who are doing the practical work to prepare for the day (publicity, catering, preparing the site, resourcing activities, communicating with other participating groups)
  • taking on a key role such as co-ordinating catering, publicity, or money management
  • lending Transition Belper a small apple press (with one or more skilled operators)

And – just as important – bring yourself and others to enjoy the day.  Just turning up will help us make Apple Day an even bigger success.

Please contact Chris Ring, (Transition Belper Project Lead) if you’d like to offer help, or have any questions or suggestions: chrisdring@outlook.com 07946 670768.
